- August 2, 2008 - The staff of
www.dudubarrosjj.com would like to congratulate Chris Kriebel and
Daniel Taylor for their performances in the Ohio Grappling Challenge.
Chris Kriebel won first place in the No-Gi Intermediate division and
first place in the White Belt Gi Division. Daniel took first place in
the Master's No-Gi Beginners Divison and third place in the White Belt
Gi Divion. Congratulations to both men on great performances.
- July 18, 2008 - Eduardo conducted a successful seminar in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Everyone learned a lot and had a great time!

Kris McLeod to the rank of purple belt; Kyle Price, Kevin Lucas, and

belt. These individuals were promoted at the Mario Sperry seminar.

- April 2008 - Congratulations to Jay Nance who
won two
bronze metals at the Jiu Jitsu Pan American Games in California. Jay
won third place in his weight division, as well as third place in the
absolute purple belt division. There were over 30 competitors in Jay's
division and he won four matches in one day to place in third. Great
job Jay!
- March 22, 2008 - Student Frankie Fasline won
first place on his division at the Joslin's 2007 Canadian open
Grappling Championships on Nov 11th 2007. We apolotize in getting this
news up so late, but we were only able to get details this past week.
Frankie won the advanced division 129-146 lbl. He won 3 fights and 2 by
submission. Great job Frankie!!!
- March 16, 2008 - The Dudu Barros Jiu Jitsu
academy
was featured on 90.3 WCPN public radio. Volunteers from the academy
worked the stations fund drive during the Garrison Keillor show and was
mentioned five times during the program. Special thanks to all who
volunteered to help this worthy cause.
- March 6, 2008 - On January 14th of this year,
Dudu
promoted Mitchell Peters to the Purple Belt and Matt Waterhouse to the
Brown Belt. Matt is now Dudu's highest ranking student. Great job to
both of them and all their hard work in picking up their new ranks! On
January 26th, Paul Bartholet won 1st Place at the Michigan Jiu-Jitsu
Championship as well as taking 1st place at the Strongstyle Tournament
on February 16th. Additionally, Frank Fasline won 1st place in his
division at the Arnold Classic in Columbus this past weekend.
Congratulations for starting out the year with so many wins!
- January 17, 2008 - Dudu has been featured in the #77 issue of Brazil Explore Magazine.
Flip to page 20 and you can read all about it in either Portuguese or
English.
- December 3, 2007 - Nate Black won 1st Place in
his
division at the Naga Ohio on December 1st. Ali Cardenas and Zac Stanley
both took 2nd place. For all three students, this was their first time
competing. Congratulations and great first showing to Nate, Ali and
Zac!!!
- November 23, 2007 - Student Paul Bartholet won
the Midwest Tournment this pastNovember 11th. Student Malia Koenig was
also promoted to the Blue Belt on October 12th, she is Dudu's first
female student to get promoted to Blue Belt. Great job Paul and
congratulations to Malia!
- September 24, 2007 - Eduardo has moved his gym
to a
larger facility, west of his downtown location. The new address has
been added to the website and more details will follow soon.

Brian Boucher who won first place in his no-gi division at the Ohio
Grappling Challenge IV on August 4th.
- August 1, 2007 News Roundup, it's been a while
since
we've had an update and Dudu was able to give us some great news for
what is turning out to be a great summer.
- Student Brian Boucher won first place on
the 205lb
division at the Midwest Grappling Open in June. Great job Brian!
- At the Naga Ohio in Columbus Dudu headed
down with
8 students ready to compete. They were able to bring home 7 medals (or
swords), fantastic job!
- John Hardman got 1st place as a GI

Cruiser Weight and 1st place as NO-GI Men’s Intermediate

- Bob Bressi got 3rd place as a GI White
Belt Light
Weight.(He won 2 matches, 1 by sumimission at his first tournment)

- April 28, 2007 - Congratulations to Chris
Melillo for
taking first place as a White Belt and Bradley Parks who took Second
Place as a Blue Belt at a regional grappling tournament in Lexington,
OH. Congratulations also to Jeff Howell, Greg Hammerton, and Bryan
Stevens for all being promoted to Blue Belt. Great work guys!

- March 14, 2007 - At the Gracie Nationals this
year,
Frank Fasline took first place; Jay Nance got second; Tony Demercado,
David Montgomery,and Romulo Vinhaes got third place. Fantastic Job!
- January 27, 2007 - This past Saturday at the
Midwest
Grappling Open in Cleveland, several students did very well. Frankie
Fasline and Luke Colpo took first place. Paul Bartholet, David
Montgomery took second place and Bradley Parks and Chris Melillo took
third.

display of technique, student Frankie Fasline, who is just 15 years
old, won a tournment in Canada. He defeated all of his 7 opponents by
submission in less than 20 seconds. Dudu believes Frankie is just
amazing. Great job Frankie!

- Jeremy Good won his blue belt division
winning 4 matches to take the gold.
- Adam Bell won a silver in his blue
belt
division. Adam had 45 competitors in his division, he won 4 matches 3
by submission. It was his first competition as a blue belt.
- Adam Miller took a silver in the white belt
masters
divsion. Adam won 3 matches - an excellent showing at his very first
tournament.
- Frankie Fasline won the bronze. He lost in
the
semi-finals to a much larger and heavier opponent. He made an excellent
showing.

who won 1st place the advanced No-gi divison, and 1st place
in
the blue belt gi division at NAGA - Florida.

- August 7th, 2002 - Eduardo Barros
has just
returned from Brazil where he has been intensely
training
Jiu-Jitsu with his instructor Andre Pederneiras. While in Brazil, Dudu
competed in the World Jiu-Jitsu Championships. He lost his match on
points, in the face of what can only be referred to as "questionable
officiating". Dudu being the good sport , as always,
responded to
charges of poor officiating by saying, "It doesn't matter. I can do
better. I made mistakes that gave him points that cost me the match. I
know I can do better! Next time I will go for the submission and take
the decision out of the judges hands."

5th, 2002 - Dudu was awarded the rank of brown belt by his instructor,
Andre Pederneiras. Dudu will now represent the Nova Uniao Jiu Jitu Team
in the Brown Belt Division. Congratulations Du!
